The Advertising
Club of New York’s small business forum was a huge success. The
featured speaker was ad industry Icon George Fertitta, President of
Margeotes, Fertitta and Partners. The topic was “how a Small Agency
Grew Up”, he touched on topics related to his history in the
advertising business and laid down some sound advice to those that are
young in the advertising business.
He spoke of his
start up and the trials and tribulations associated with it, his
outlook on the industry and his mistakes along the way. Fertitta put
emphasis on setting a long term goal but more so of setting short
term, realistic goals to reach along the way. He also addressed the
relationship between the agency and the client and gave sound advice
on how to be in tune to a clients needs and goals. So those that
attended got a real education in the advertising business, but his
insight holds true for any business.
So I would
recommend the Advertising Club’s forums to anyone involved in the
advertising industry. The more insight that you get in the industry
that you are in the more successful you can become, the Advertising
Club brings that insight with their Small Business Forums and other
related events.
